FAQ

I don't have much coding experience. Can I still use this platform?

Yes, our goal is to package all the repetitive and well-tested code into simple modules with easy-to-use GUI so no one has to write a single line of code.

I already work with biostatician(s). Will this platform replace him/her?

This platform does not replace your statistician or bio-statistician. With this platform, you can do much of the data analysis on your own. Once you have your insights and analysis, you can then work with your statistician for more advanced analysis if needed.

Can I download the plots and tables generated with my data?

Of course! We use the platform to perform various analysis and download the plots for our papers.

What if I need to use more advanced machine learning algorithms or algorithms you don't have on COMPASS?

Our platform was architected to be highly extensible so that we can easily add on new algorithms or capabilities.

Is this a cloud service? What if we already have computing resources at my institution?

In addition our Software as Service (SaaS) model, we can also deploy the platform to your computing cluster as long as you meet some technical requirements.

What if I don't have my own computing cluster, and don't want to upload my research data to your server?

We also provide services where everything's packaged into a single computing appliance that does not need to be connected to the internet. The appliance can just sit in your institution and allow you to leverage all the capabilities of COMPASS.

What kind of data sources can the platform work with?

For our own researches we have successfully integrated with the UK Biobank project (500,000 UK participant longitudinal healthcare data) and the MIMIC-IV database. COMPASS includes our own Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipeline that can be customized to import your data into a secure data warehouse that can be used by COMPASS.

How much does it cost?

Because we offer various ways of deploying the platform, our price model has been mostly custom based on your needs, use-cases, and the size of data. It's recommended that you start a conversation with us so we can figure out the best pricing and deployment method for your research projects.

Are you guys researchers or software engineers?

We are a group of incredibly passionate clinical researchers, data scientists, and software engineers at Cipherome.

This platform was developed out of our needs to work on our pharmacogenomic research projects with biobank data. With limited resouces in data science and genomic data processing, we set out to build efficient, automated workflows so that we can focus on our research instead of debugging jupyter notebooks. Once we built the platform we felt strongly that this platform may help other researchers that experience the same pain points.
